Dupree Man Charged in Stabbing Spree

Dupree, South Dakota – A Dupree man has been charged with Assault with a Dangerous Weapon and Assault Resulting in Serious Bodily Injury. Lester Delbert Clown, 30, was allegedly involved in a violent attack in December 2013, leaving his victim with three different stab wounds.

According to court documents, Clown was indicted on March 11, 2014, and appeared before U.S. Magistrate Judge Mark A. Moreno on March 17, 2014. During his appearance, he pled not guilty to the indictment.

The maximum penalty upon conviction for Clown’s crimes includes 10 years in custody and/or a $250,000 fine, 3 years of supervised release, and $100 to the Federal Crime Victims Fund. Additionally, restitution may be ordered.

Clown’s alleged actions are merely an accusation, and he is presumed innocent until proven guilty. The charges stem from an incident in December 2013 in Dupree, where Clown allegedly assaulted an adult male with a knife.

United States Attorney Brendan V. Johnson announced the indictment, emphasizing the severity of Clown’s alleged crimes. The case will now proceed to trial, where a judge and jury will ultimately decide Clown’s fate.

The alleged victim in this case has not been identified, but it is clear that the impact of Clown’s actions will be felt for a long time.
