Sanjay Nelson, Reckless Discharge of a Firearm, Arizona 2017

Sanjay Nelson, a 25-year-old man from Chinle, Arizona, has been sentenced to 18 months in prison followed by three years of supervised release for his role in a fatal shooting on the Navajo Nation Indian Reservation.

The incident, which occurred on May 1, 2017, resulted in the death of a 25-year-old man after Nelson’s sawed-off shotgun accidentally discharged as the victim was handing the firearm back to him.
