Kyle A. Tesca, Bank Robbery, Ohio 2015

MANSFIELD, OH – Three men from Mansfield are facing serious federal time after a grand jury indictment revealed their alleged involvement in two brazen bank robberies. Kyle A. Tesca, age 21, Caleb A. Lambert, age 21, and Kollin J. Tesca, age 19, are all accused of holding up Richland Bank and Chase Bank within a month of each other, according to a statement released by United States Attorney Steven M. Dettelbach for the Northern District of Ohio.

The indictment details that on December 15th, the trio allegedly stormed Richland Bank, located at 460 West Cook Road, Mansfield, Ohio. Exactly one month later, on January 15, 2015, they allegedly targeted the Chase Bank branch at 1094 Lexington Avenue, also in Mansfield. The feds aren’t saying how much cash was lifted in either heist, but sources say the robberies were remarkably similar in execution, suggesting a degree of planning.

The charges don’t stop at simple robbery. Counts 2 and 4 of the indictment specifically allege that Kyle A. Tesca and Caleb A. Lambert brandished firearms during both robberies, ratcheting up the potential penalties significantly. That “brandishing” charge adds a heavy layer of seriousness, and prosecutors will likely emphasize the danger posed to bank employees and customers during the trials.

Federal investigators from the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s Mansfield Office spearheaded the investigation that led to the indictment. Assistant United States Attorney Linda H. Barr is handling the prosecution, meaning the government will be bringing the full weight of federal law enforcement down on these defendants. The FBI has been tight-lipped about the evidence gathered, but sources suggest surveillance footage and witness testimony played a key role.

While the indictment marks a significant step forward, it’s crucial to remember this is just the beginning. As Dettelbach’s office pointed out, an indictment is merely an accusation. Each defendant, Kyle A. Tesca, Caleb A. Lambert, and Kollin J. Tesca, is presumed innocent and entitled to a fair trial. The government bears the burden of proving their guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.

If convicted, the sentencing will be at the discretion of the court, taking into account each defendant’s criminal history (if any), their individual role in the crimes, and the specifics of the robberies. However, the sentences will be capped by statutory maximums, though prosecutors are typically able to secure substantial prison terms in armed robbery cases. The Grimy Times will continue to follow this case as it progresses through the federal court system.
