A 34-year-old man from Chinle, Arizona, has been sentenced to a lengthy prison term for abusing a young child. Marcurio Carlisle Tsosie was sentenced by U.S. District Judge John J. Tuchi to 18.5 years’ imprisonment, to be followed by lifetime supervised release with sex offender conditions.
The abuse occurred on the Navajo Nation Reservation, where both Tsosie and the 9-year-old victim are members of the Navajo Nation. The victim reported the abuse to their mother in November 2016, prompting an investigation by the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
Tsosie had previously pleaded guilty to abusive sexual contact of a child. The investigation was conducted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, with the prosecution handled by Assistant U.S. Attorneys William G. Voit and Sharon K. Sexton, District of Arizona, Phoenix.
