Mark Elliot Stool, Distribution of a Controlled Substance Resulting in Death, Texas 2022

A devastating crime has shaken San Antonio as a local man has admitted to distributing lethal doses of methamphetamine and fentanyl, resulting in the deaths of three individuals.

Mark Elliot Stool, 67, pleaded guilty to three counts of distribution of a controlled substance resulting in death and one count of distribution of a controlled substance resulting in serious bodily injury.

According to court documents, Stool supplied substances containing combinations of methamphetamine and fentanyl, and methamphetamine and heroin, to four individuals between August 2021 and March 2022.

Stool was arrested following a traffic stop in June 2022 and found to be in possession of a substance that tested positive for both methamphetamine and fentanyl.

The investigation into Stool’s activities was a collaborative effort between the Drug Enforcement Administration, University of Texas at San Antonio Police Department, San Antonio Police Department, Bexar County Sheriff’s Office, and Castle Hills Police Department.

Assistant U.S. Attorneys Amy Hail and William Calve are prosecuting the case, which is now set for sentencing on July 17.

Stool faces a possible sentence of 20 years to life in prison, as determined by a federal district court judge considering the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines and other statutory factors.

The Grimy Times sends its condolences to the families of the victims and urges continued vigilance in the face of this and similar crimes.
