MIAMI, FLORIDA – In a shocking case of firearms manufacturing, Mark Gene George, a 58-year-old convicted felon, was sentenced to 27 months in prison for building ghost guns and manufacturing ammunition in his garage. The sentence was handed down on an unspecified date in 2024.
According to court documents, George, a resident of Port St. Lucie, Florida, was found to be in possession of an AK-style rifle, multiple pistols, and six firearms with no serial number or manufacturer information. Additionally, agents recovered over 5,000 rounds of assorted ammunition, as well as machines and tools to manufacture ammunition during a search of his residence in December 2020.
George later admitted to building unserialized AR-style rifles, as well as ammunition, and to having previously sold firearms online. The investigation was led by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) Miami Field Division, and Assistant U.S. Attorney Justin Hoover prosecuted the case.
