A pair of Mexican Mafia associates have been sentenced to lengthy prison terms for their roles in a methamphetamine distribution conspiracy that operated in San Diego jails.
Marquella Marshall, 41, of Houston, Texas, was sentenced to 180 months in prison, while Marsha Delacruz, 47, of Lemon Grove, California, received a 48-month sentence, according to a federal court hearing on January 16, 2024.
Marshall, an Eastside San Diego street gang member and high-ranking Mexican Mafia facilitator, was tasked with communicating on behalf of the gang, collecting and laundering money, handling drug transactions, and directing street operations. Delacruz, also an Eastside San Diego street gang member, worked under Marshall’s direction.
The two defendants mailed methamphetamine to various locations, including jails and prisons in Southern California, disguising some of the packages as legal mail to avoid detection.
Marshall and Delacruz were apprehended after an investigation by the FBI Violent Crimes Task Force – Gang Group, which included investigators from multiple agencies.
