Muskogee, Oklahoma – In a shocking turn of events, a Broken Arrow resident has been found guilty of a heinous crime that sent shockwaves through the community.

Martha Christine Simpson, a 45-year-old resident of Broken Arrow, has been convicted of Voluntary Manslaughter in Indian Country, a federal charge that carries severe penalties.

The crime took place in the early morning hours of July 15, 2019, when Jabaica Tecumseh and Tommy Tecumseh came to Simpson’s Broken Arrow home. During the altercation, Simpson’s boyfriend, Trevor Richardson, was brutally beaten and kicked. In a desperate attempt to save her boyfriend, Simpson stabbed him with a knife, ultimately leading to his death.

Richardson’s body was then wrapped in a blanket and loaded into the trunk of his own vehicle, which was driven away by Jabaica Tecumseh. The vehicle was later found to have been burned at a remote location in Okmulgee County, further solidifying the gravity of the crime.

The guilty verdict was the result of an investigation by the Broken Arrow Police Department and the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Assistant United States Attorneys William Cosner and Michael Mazur represented the United States in the case.

The Honorable Ronald A. White, U.S. District Judge in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Oklahoma in Muskogee, presided over the trial and ordered the completion of a presentence report. Sentencing will be scheduled following the completion of the report. Simpson was remanded to the custody of the United States Marshal pending the imposition of sentencing.
