Martin Anderson, Methamphetamine Trafficking, Montana 2023

BILLINGS – A methamphetamine trafficker has been sentenced to over 18 years in prison for his role in importing and distributing the highly addictive drug in the Sidney area of Montana.

Martin Anderson, 46, was sentenced to 220 months in prison, five years of supervised release, and a $100 special assessment by U.S. District Judge Susan Watters on [date].

Anderson’s downfall began when he entered a guilty plea to conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute methamphetamine. He and other conspirators had agreed to import substantial amounts of methamphetamine into the Sidney area for redistribution as far back as 2016.

Law enforcement launched an investigation into Anderson’s activities after discovering that he was purchasing methamphetamine from California and arranging for its transportation and re-distribution in Sidney and elsewhere. They conducted multiple controlled purchases of methamphetamine from Anderson, which led to the execution of a search warrant at his residence in March 2017.

The search warrant resulted in the discovery of methamphetamine and numerous items associated with narcotics distribution. At sentencing, Judge Watters found that at least 4.5 kilograms of actual methamphetamine was attributable to Anderson.

Prosecutors noted in a sentencing memorandum that Anderson had a ‘life of crime’ and was responsible for approximately half a pound of methamphetamine per week. He was a significant player in the methamphetamine distribution network in Sidney and beyond, they said.

Anderson’s co-defendants, Autumn Guerrero, Timothy Swope, and Tiffany Boland, were previously sentenced by Judge Watters to 84 months, 156 months, and 60 months, respectively.

The case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Montana Department of Criminal Investigation, and other federal, state, and local agencies. Assistant United States Attorneys Zeno Baucus and Bryan Dake prosecuted Anderson.
