David Smerling, a 54-year-old man from Massachusetts, has been charged with running a brazen $1 million Ponzi scheme, leaving dozens of investors high and dry.
According to court documents, Smerling’s scheme involved convincing unsuspecting investors to hand over their hard-earned cash, promising astronomical returns. However, instead of investing the money, Smerling used it to fund his own lavish lifestyle, complete with luxury cars and vacations.
