In a shocking display of violence, Patrick Wayne McHenry, a 30-year-old Muskogee resident, has been sentenced to 35 years behind bars for kidnapping, carjacking, and robbery. McHenry’s string of crimes left a trail of destruction and fear in his wake.
The United States Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Oklahoma announced the sentencing, which was handed down by Chief Judge Ronald A. White. McHenry’s sentence includes 360 months for one count of Conspiracy to Commit Kidnapping, 360 months for one count of Kidnapping, 180 months for one count of Carjacking, and 180 months for one count of Robbery in Indian Country. These terms will be served concurrently.
In addition to his lengthy prison sentence, McHenry was also ordered to serve 60 months for Use and Carry of a Firearm During and in Relation to a Crime of Violence. This term will be served consecutively, bringing McHenry’s total sentence to 420 months.
The charges against McHenry arose from investigations by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, the Muskogee County Sheriff’s Office, and the Muskogee Police Department. McHenry was found guilty of the charges by a federal jury at trial on December 21, 2022.
According to investigators, McHenry’s crimes began on September 11, 2021, when he kidnapped an individual from a motel in Muskogee, on the Muscogee (Creek) Reservation. McHenry held the victim captive for over two days, subjecting them to unimaginable terror. On September 12, 2021, McHenry targeted a second victim from the same motel, armed with a sawed-off shotgun. He robbed and carjacked the victim, leaving them shaken and traumatized.
United States Attorney Christopher J. Wilson applauded the work of law enforcement and prosecutors for their roles in holding McHenry accountable for his crimes. “I applaud the work of law enforcement and prosecutors for their roles in holding McHenry accountable for his spate of violence,” said Wilson. McHenry will remain in the custody of the U.S. Marshal pending transportation to a designated United States Bureau of Prisons facility to serve his sentence.
