A Campbell County man is behind bars after being sentenced to 188 months for conspiracy to distribute controlled substances, including five kilograms or more of cocaine and 500 grams or more of methamphetamine.
Tyjuan Eugene Crossty, 41, of Newport, Ky., was sentenced by U.S. District Judge David Bunning on Thursday for his role in the trafficking operation.
Crossty was first pulled over by law enforcement on March 24, 2023, in Covington, where officers smelled marijuana and found a small amount of the substance in the vehicle. A loaded handgun was also discovered in the glove compartment, which later matched Crossty’s DNA.
Following the traffic stop, a search warrant was obtained for Crossty’s Covington residence, where police uncovered 32.7 grams of crack cocaine, 3.898 grams of actual methamphetamine, and items consistent with manufacturing crack cocaine and distributing both crack and crystal methamphetamine.
Crossty admitted to distributing large amounts of cocaine and methamphetamine, and also confessed to selling pressed fentanyl pills, often in quantities of 2500-3500 pills at a time, as a middleman on multiple occasions.
Crossty has a prior conviction for aggravated robbery in Hamilton County, Ohio, in 2000. Under federal law, he must serve 85 percent of his 188-month prison sentence. Upon release, Crossty will be under the supervision of the U.S. Probation Office for 10 years.
The investigation was a joint effort between the ATF, Northern Kentucky Drug Strike Force, and the Covington Police Department. Assistant U.S. Attorney Tony Bracke prosecuted the case on behalf of the United States.
The sentence was announced by Carlton S. Shier, IV, United States Attorney for the Eastern District of Kentucky; Shawn Morrow, Special Agent in Charge, ATF Louisville Field Division; Director Scott Hardcorn, Northern Kentucky Drug Strike Force; and Chief Brian Valenti, Covington Police Department.
