Stewart Anthony Carr, Methamphetamine Possession, Arkansas 2023

FAYETTEVILLE, AR – In a bold move to crack down on illicit substances, a 20-year prison sentence has been handed down to a Bella Vista man for methamphetamine possession. Stewart Anthony Carr, 41, was sentenced to two decades behind bars, followed by five years of supervised release, for his role in the crime.

According to court documents, the ordeal began on June 3, 2019, when officers with the Lowell Police witnessed Carr run a red light while operating a moped. When officers attempted to stop Carr, he initially refused to comply, throwing various objects into a ditch as he fled. Officers eventually apprehended Carr and conducted a search of his person and the surrounding area.

During the search, officers located a small blue plastic container containing methamphetamine residue in Carr’s backpack. A search of the side of the road where Carr was seen dropping items revealed drug paraphernalia and a black case containing a large amount of suspected methamphetamine. The suspected methamphetamine was subsequently sent to the DEA crime lab, where it was determined to be 84.2 grams of actual methamphetamine.

U.S. Attorney David Clay Fowlkes of the Western District of Arkansas announced the sentencing, praising the efforts of the Lowell Police Department, who investigated the case. Assistant U.S. Attorney Hunter Bridges prosecuted the case, bringing Carr to justice for his alleged crimes.

Carr’s actions demonstrate a blatant disregard for the law and a willingness to engage in illegal activities, putting himself and others at risk. His 20-year prison sentence sends a strong message that such behavior will not be tolerated.

The case serves as a reminder of the ongoing struggle against drug trafficking and the importance of law enforcement’s dedication to keeping our communities safe.
