A 43-year-old man’s life slipped away in Metro Transit Police custody, and now the officers responsible are walking free thanks to a lack of concrete evidence.
According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Columbia, four officers with the Metro Transit Police Department are off the hook for their alleged role in the death of the unidentified man from a drug overdose on November 16, 2025.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office investigation found that there was insufficient evidence to pursue federal criminal civil rights or District of Columbia charges against the officers.
The case has left many wondering how a preventable overdose could occur while a person is in the care of law enforcement.
The incident has sparked outrage within the community, with many calling for greater accountability and transparency in such cases.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Columbia announced the conclusion of the investigation, stating that the decision was made after a thorough review of the evidence.
The names of the four officers involved have not been released, and it is unclear if any internal disciplinary action will be taken. The Metro Transit Police Department has declined to comment on the matter.
