Mexican National Pleads Guilty to Heroin-Meth Distribution

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – Luis Eduardo Martinez-Torres, a 23-year-old Mexican national, has entered a guilty plea in federal court for aiding and abetting the possession with intent to distribute heroin and methamphetamine.

United States Attorney Mike Stuart spoke passionately about the case, stating, “Heroin and meth. A deadly duo. Too many victims. Far too many, all as a result of making an easy buck and greed. We are taking our streets back from the drug dealers who have sought to destroy them for their own financial gain.”

The feds were relentless in their pursuit. On June 5, 2019, officers executed a search warrant at a Huntington residence where Martinez-Torres was present. The discovery of methamphetamine and heroin inside the home led to the arrest of Martinez-Torres and others.

Martinez-Torres admitted his role in aiding other individuals who possessed 340 grams of methamphetamine and 453 grams of heroin with intent to distribute. He faces a maximum sentence of 20 years imprisonment when he is sentenced on December 7, 2020.

The DEA, Violent Crime and Drug Task Force West, and the Wayne County Sheriff’s Department conducted the investigation that led to this pivotal plea. United States District Judge Robert C. Chambers presided over the hearing with Assistant United States Attorney Stephanie S. Taylor handling the prosecution.
