BOSTON – Mexican national Bernardo Lorenzo-Guatemala, 38, has pleaded guilty to one count of illegally reentering the United States after deportation.
Lorenzo-Guatemala was arrested and charged by criminal complaint in May 2025. He was previously deported from the United States on June 4, 2019.
According to court documents, immigration officials became aware of Lorenzo-Guatemala’s unlawful presence in the United States following his arrest on July 2, 2024 for operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license.
The charge of unlawful reentry of a deported alien provides for a sentence of up to 10 years in prison, three years of supervised release, and a fine of up to $250,000. The defendant is subject to deportation upon completion of any sentence imposed.
United States Attorney Leah B. Foley and Patricia H. Hyde, Field Office Director of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Enforcement and Removal Operations in Boston made the announcement. Assistant U.S. Attorney Brian Sullivan of the Criminal Division is prosecuting the case.
