Mexican Nationals Hit with Meth Distribution Indictment

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – A gritty federal grand jury in Kansas City hit two Mexican nationals with a hard-hitting indictment for their alleged roles in a meth conspiracy that spanned state lines.

According to grim details, Jose Adrian Medina-Herrera, 21, and Jose Farias-Valdovinos, 41, both residents of Mexico, are accused of distributing over five kilograms of the highly addictive drug. The duo faces a serious two-count indictment that includes charges of conspiracy and aiding and abetting each other in their sinister scheme.

The feds allege that on January 11, 2017, Medina-Herrera was apprehended at a local bus station with 5.352 kilograms of methamphetamine hidden in his suitcase. The 21-year-old, who claimed to have traveled from California to St. Louis before making his way to Kansas City, had a one-way ticket to prove it. Police officers discovered the illegal drugs wrapped in brown packing tape during their search.

Farias-Valdovinos was taken into custody when he arrived at the bus station to meet Medina-Herrera, according to court documents. The DEA and local police are credited with leading the investigation that led to the two’s arrest.

United States Attorney Tammy Dickinson emphasized that the charges against the defendants are merely accusations, not proof of guilt. A federal trial jury will have the duty to weigh evidence and decide their fate.

This case is being aggressively prosecuted by Special Assistant U.S. Attorney Courtney R. Pratten, with support from the Drug Enforcement Administration and the Kansas City, Mo., Police Department.
