Miami Cop Accused of Exploiting Teen

MIAMI – A sworn Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office deputy is facing federal charges in a sickening case of alleged child exploitation. Carle Miranda Blum, 51, was arrested today after being charged with both receiving and producing visual depictions of a minor engaged in sexually explicit acts.

According to federal prosecutors, Blum received multiple videos and images depicting the victim, who was 17 years old at the time, in compromising situations. But the charges don’t stop there. The complaint alleges Blum traveled to Atlanta, Georgia, in the spring of 2025 and recorded multiple videos of herself engaging in sex acts with the then-minor victim. The details are, frankly, disturbing.

If convicted on the charge of production of visual depictions involving the sexual exploitation of minors, Blum faces a mandatory-minimum sentence of 15 years in federal prison, with a possible maximum of up to 30 years behind bars. The receipt charge carries a mandatory minimum of 5 years and a maximum of 20 years. Sentencing will ultimately be determined by a federal district court judge, taking into account U.S. Sentencing Guidelines and relevant statutes.

The announcement of Blum’s arrest came jointly from United States Attorney Hayden P. O’Byrne and FBI Miami Special Agent in Charge Brett D. Skiles. The Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office assisted in the investigation, while authorities in the Northern District of Georgia and FBI Atlanta provided support in apprehending and arresting Blum. Assistant U.S. Attorneys Ilana R. Malkin and Lauren Astigarraga are prosecuting the case.

It’s crucial to remember that a criminal complaint is simply an accusation, and Blum is presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law. This case is being pursued under Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative launched in 2006 aimed at combating child sexual exploitation and abuse. Resources are available for victims and those who suspect abuse.
