Muskogee Rapist Brown Gets 18 Months for Failing to Register

MUSKOGEE, OKLAHOMA – Jordan Bradley Brown, 37, of Muskogee, is headed back to a cage. The convicted rapist was sentenced to 18 months in federal prison this week for a simple, yet crucial, failure: keeping his address current with law enforcement as a registered sex offender. The sentence, handed down by Chief U.S. District Judge Ronald A. White, sends a clear message – even after serving time, predators are held accountable for transparency.

The case, prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Dak T. Cohen, stems from an investigation by the U.S. Marshals Service and the U.S. Probation Office. Investigators discovered that on June 28, 2024, Brown neglected to update his address with authorities, a direct violation of the Sex Offender Registration and Notification Act (SORNA), the federal law passed in 2006 requiring ongoing registration.

Brown’s criminal history is already lengthy and disturbing. Court records show he was convicted by the State of Oklahoma of Rape—2nd Degree on February 15, 2008, and Sexual Battery on June 27, 2008. Both convictions are felonies, automatically triggering the SORNA requirement. The failure to comply isn’t a minor oversight; it’s a deliberate act that puts the public at risk. It removes a critical layer of protection for potential victims.

On February 5, 2025, Brown pleaded guilty to one count of Failure to Register as a Sex Offender, acknowledging his transgression. The plea likely saved him from a longer sentence, but it wasn’t enough to avoid incarceration. Judge White made it clear that the seriousness of the initial offenses, coupled with the subsequent failure to register, warranted significant punishment.

Following the sentencing, Brown was taken into the custody of the U.S. Marshals Service. He will be transported to a designated United States Bureau of Prisons facility to begin serving his non-paroleable 18-month sentence. After his release, he will face an additional five years of supervised release, and will remain on the Sex Offender Registry for life.
