Miami Man Sentenced to 20 Years for Multi-Robbery Crime Spree

A 54-year-old Miami man has been sentenced to 240 months in prison, followed by three years of supervised release, for committing multiple robberies while on supervised release for a separate case.

Keith Bernard Miller, of Miami, was convicted in a three-day federal jury trial and sentenced by U.S. District Judge Roy K. Altman. Miller’s crime spree began on Sept. 29, 2023, when he entered two credit unions in Miramar and attempted to rob each one.

Undeterred, Miller drove to a credit union in Boca Raton, presented a note demanding money, and stole over $1,600. Later that day, Miller struck again, this time at a bank in Davie, where he presented a demand note to a teller and stole over $1,300.

Law enforcement officers located Miller’s getaway vehicle and arrested him on Oct. 10, 2023. A search of the vehicle revealed draft demand notes and clothing worn during the robberies. Miller’s arrest brought an end to a string of brazen robberies that had left the community on edge.

Miller’s rap sheet is long and distinguished, with previous convictions for robberies, aggravated stalking with a firearm, burglary with assault and battery, and felony eluding, among other offenses. In 2020, Miller was sentenced to 65 months in prison and three years of supervised release after pleading guilty to three counts of credit union robbery.

U.S. Attorney Markenzy Lapointe for the Southern District of Florida and Special Agent in Charge Jeffrey B. Veltri of the FBI, Miami Field Office, announced the sentence imposed by Judge Altman. The FBI Miami division, along with the Miramar Police Department, Boca Police Department, and Miami-Dade Police Department, investigated the case with the assistance of Assistant U.S. Attorneys Ajay J. Alexander and M. Catherine Koontz.

The case was prosecuted in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida, with related court documents and information available on the court’s website at www.flsd.uscourts.gov or at http://pacer.flsd.uscourts.gov, under case number 23-cr-60199.
