Michael Ron David Kadar, an 18-year-old dual U.S. and Israeli citizen, has been charged with making threatening calls to Jewish Community Centers in Florida, conveying false information to police dispatch, and cyberstalking.
According to a federal criminal complaint filed in Orlando, Florida, Kadar allegedly made multiple threatening calls involving bomb threats and active shooter threats to numerous Jewish Community Centers throughout Florida between January 4, 2017, and March 7, 2017.
Kadar also made a phone call to a police department in Macon, Georgia, conveying false information about an alleged violent emergency situation concerning multiple individuals at a private residence in Athens, Georgia.
Attorney General Sessions stated, ‘Today’s charges into these violent threats to Jewish Community Centers and others represent this Department’s commitment to fighting all forms of violent crime.’
Director Comey emphasized, ‘This kind of behavior is not a prank, and it isn’t harmless. It’s a federal crime. It scares innocent people, disrupts entire communities, and expends limited law enforcement resources.’
Kadar allegedly took extraordinary steps to conceal his identity and location through several technological means, including voice alteration, use of proxy IP addresses, virtual currencies, and caller ID spoofing.
The charges brought against Kadar demonstrate the resolve of law enforcement to pursue and prosecute those who seek to sow terror and fear in their communities.
