BANK HEIST: Michael S. Putman, a 51-year-old man from Fairview Heights, Illinois, was sentenced to 77 months in prison for robbing the Regions Bank in Collinsville, Illinois, on February 10, 2017.
The high-speed chase that ensued after the bank robbery left Putman crashing his vehicle near the entrance to the Eads Bridge. He was finally apprehended and charged with robbing the Regions Bank at #1 Eastport Plaza in Collinsville, Illinois.
Putman had previously pled guilty to the crime, and the prosecution was the result of an investigation by the Collinsville Police Department, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, and the U.S. Marshal Service.
The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney James G. Piper, Jr. Putman will also serve an additional sentence in the Illinois Department of Corrections for burglarizing the China King restaurant in Fairview Heights in January of 2017.
