Connecticut authorities have brought another perpetrator to justice in the ongoing battle against child sex abuse.
On April 4, 2023, law enforcement officials seized the iPhone of MICHAEL W. LANDON, 38, of Groton, and discovered a video of Landon engaging in sexually explicit conduct with a minor under the age of 12, and other videos depicting child sexual abuse.
Forensic analysis revealed the disturbing evidence, leading to the arrest of Landon on related state charges on June 28, 2023.
Landon has been detained since his arrest and is currently facing severe consequences for his actions.
According to court documents and statements made in court, Landon pleaded guilty to production of child pornography, an offense that carries a mandatory minimum term of imprisonment of 15 years and a maximum term of imprisonment of 30 years, and possessing and accessing with intent to view child pornography, an offense that carries a maximum term of imprisonment of 20 years.
Judge Kari A. Dooley scheduled sentencing for July 2, 2023, where Landon will face the consequences of his actions.
Acting U.S. Attorney Mark H. Silverman thanked the New London State Attorney’s Office for its cooperation in the investigation and prosecution of this case.
