Buffalo, NY – In a shocking turn of events, former Western New York man Michael W. Luehrsen, 41, of Miami, Florida, has pleaded guilty to perjury for lying under oath during his fraud trial in 2022.
According to court records, Luehrsen testified that he was not in Buffalo on July 11, 2014, when an altered compound prescription form was faxed from his father’s home. However, evidence from his cellular telephone shows that the testimony was false. Photographs on the cell phone establish that he was, in fact, in Buffalo on that date.
Luehrsen’s testimony was significant, as it was a matter material to the trial whether or not he was in Buffalo on that date. His father’s home is located in the Western District of New York, and Luehrsen was being tried for conspiring to commit healthcare fraud among other crimes.
The perjury charge carries a maximum penalty of five years in prison, and Luehrsen has agreed to pay approximately $2 million in restitution and forfeit approximately $2 million in assets, including investments and real estate proceeds.
The investigation was conducted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, under the direction of Special Agent-in-Charge Matthew Miraglia.
Sentencing is scheduled for June 27, 2025, before U.S. District Judge Lawrence J. Vilardo.
Luehrsen’s guilty plea is a significant blow to those who seek to manipulate the justice system. As Grimy Times continues to expose the truth, it is clear that no one is above the law.
The case is a stark reminder of the importance of honesty and integrity in the justice system.
