Miguel Angel Villasenor-Saucedo, Illegal Re-entry After Deportation, Kentucky 2016

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Miguel Angel Villasenor-Saucedo, 40, a Mexican national with no legal right to be in the United States, has been indicted on federal charges of Illegal Re-entry After Deportation following a fatal hit and run that left two women dead on October 22, 2016. The grand jury indictment, announced by U.S. Attorney John E. Kuhn, Jr., marks a critical step in a case that has drawn intense scrutiny from federal and local law enforcement.

Villasenor-Saucedo was found to be illegally present in the U.S. after being deported on eight prior occasions, the most recent on May 13, 2013. He was residing in Louisville, Kentucky, when he allegedly drove a truck involved in a catastrophic crash at the intersection of Outer Loop and Grade Lane. According to investigators, the vehicle struck two pedestrians, killing them instantly, before Villasenor-Saucedo fled the scene.

Local authorities moved quickly to charge Villasenor-Saucedo in Jefferson County District Court with Leaving the Scene of a Fatal Hit and Run Accident. A criminal complaint was filed, and a warrant for his arrest was issued by LMPD. The crash, which occurred just after nightfall, was captured in part by traffic surveillance cameras, helping police identify the suspect vehicle within hours.

As the investigation unfolded, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) confirmed Villasenor-Saucedo’s undocumented status and uncovered his extensive deportation history. Despite being removed from the country multiple times, he repeatedly re-entered the United States without authorization—a pattern that has now led to federal prosecution.

The illegal re-entry charge carries a maximum penalty of no more than 2 years in federal prison. While the state-level hit and run charge remains active, federal prosecutors are focusing on immigration violations as the primary avenue for securing a conviction. Assistant U.S. Attorney Daniel P. Kinnicutt is leading the prosecution.

The case is being investigated jointly by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), and the Louisville Metropolitan Police Department (LMPD). Authorities stress that Villasenor-Saucedo remains a fugitive, and warn the public not to approach him if spotted.
