Gaylen Paul Sampson, Escape from Custody, South Dakota 2013

<p>Gaylen Paul Sampson, 38, a Mobridge man, has been sentenced for escaping from custody in South Dakota.</p>

 

According to the U.S. Attorney Brendan V. Johnson, Gaylen Paul Sampson, also known as Thurman Paul Sampson, was sentenced on September 9, 2013, by Chief Judge Jeffrey L. Viken, U.S. District Court. Sampson was handed a 4-month imprisonment sentence and ordered to pay $100 to the Federal Crime Victims Fund.

About a month prior to his sentencing, Sampson escaped from the custody of the Bureau of Prisons at the Community Alternatives of the Black Hills facility on April 10, 2013. After his escape, he was immediately turned over to the custody of the U.S. Marshals Service.

Sampson had previously pleaded guilty to the charge of Escape from Custody on June 7, 2013. The case was investigated by the U.S. Marshals Service with Assistant U.S. Attorney Wayne Venhuizen prosecuting the case.
