Mohamad Asaad Alhashem Sentenced for Child Pornography in Oklahoma

TULSA, Okla. — A Saudi Arabian national named Mohamad Asaad Alhashem has been sentenced to a staggering 90 months imprisonment for Possession of Child Pornography in Indian Country and Attempted Receipt and Distribution of Child Pornography, according to U.S. Attorney Clint Johnson.

U.S. Circuit Judge Gustavo A. Gelpi, Jr., handed down the sentence on Alhashem, 31, who will also serve 15 years of supervised release upon his release from prison. The court ordered him to register as a sex offender and pay $60,500 in restitution.

Court documents reveal that in October 2023, Alhashem engaged with an undercover officer on social media, under the belief that the individual was a 14-year-old minor. Over several weeks, he asked explicit questions about the minor’s sexual experiences and described his own desires for the child. He exchanged sexual videos of himself and solicited photos from the minor.

Law enforcement executed a search warrant on Alhashem’s home, uncovering 195 images and 19 videos depicting the sexual abuse of children, infants, and toddlers. The investigation also revealed messages where Alhashem sought to purchase child sexual abuse material.

Alhashem will remain in custody pending transfer to the U.S. Bureau of Prisons. Homeland Security Investigations and the Pryor Creek Police Department conducted the investigation, with Assistant U.S. Attorney Nathan Michel prosecuting the case.

This harrowing case was part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide effort launched by the Department of Justice to combat child sexual exploitation and abuse since May 2006. The initiative coordinates federal, state, and local resources to locate, apprehend, and prosecute individuals who exploit children online and identify and rescue victims.
