Monroe Drug Kingpin Pleads Guilty to Firearm and Weed Charges

MONROE, La. — Robert E. Robinson, the alleged drug kingpin of Monroe, has pleaded guilty in federal court for possession of marijuana with intent to distribute and possessing firearms in furtherance of a drug-trafficking crime.

According to U.S. Attorney David C. Joseph, law enforcement agents secured a search warrant after two undercover purchases from Robinson. The raid turned up over 7 kilograms of marijuana, plus baked goods laced with the drug, digital scales, and a grinder. Three firearms were also seized: a Rock Island Armory revolver, an Anderson pistol, and a Smith & Wesson pistol, all loaded with hundreds of rounds of ammunition.

Robinson, 45, faces up to five years for the marijuana charge and at least five more for the firearm offense. He is looking at fines exceeding $250,000 and five years of supervised release after his sentencing on September 4, 2019.

The ATF and the Monroe Metro Narcotics Unit spearheaded the investigation, with Assistant U.S. Attorney Brian C. Flanagan leading the prosecution.

Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), a Department of Justice initiative to combat violent crime, has been instrumental in this case, working closely with local stakeholders to identify and address the most pressing violent crime issues in the community.
