Handley is charged with carjacking, using, carrying, and brandishing a firearm during a crime of violence. Handley is currently in law enforcement custody, awaiting arraignment in federal court on October 5, 2022. The indictment was announced by John R. Lausch, Jr., United States Attorney for the Northern District of Illinois; Ashley T. Johnson, Acting Special Agent-in-Charge of the Chicago Field Office of the FBI; and David Brown, Superintendent of the Chicago Police Department. The Illinois State Police provided valuable assistance in the investigation.

Assistant U.S. Attorneys Emily Vermylen and Prashant Kolluri will represent the government in the case. The public is reminded that an indictment is not evidence of guilt and that Handley is presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
