Morales-Gonzalez Pleads Guilty to Minor Enticement

TALLAHASSEE, FL – Mauricio Morales-Gonzalez, 24, a citizen of Mexico, admitted in federal court today to the heinous act of attempting to entice a minor into sexual activity. The guilty plea comes after a joint operation targeting online predators, adding another name to the growing list of those preying on the vulnerable.

United States Attorney John P. Heekin didn’t mince words, stating, “Thanks to the relentless efforts of our incredible law enforcement partners, another child predator is behind bars and the community is safer. It is one of our most important duties to protect the most vulnerable members of our community from the predations of these sick individuals, and my office will continue to aggressively prosecute those who seek to sexually exploit our children.” The statement underscores the federal commitment to dismantling these networks of abuse.

Court records detail a disturbing case unfolding between April 10, 2025, and April 12, 2025. Detectives from the Tallahassee Police Department and the Leon County Sheriff’s Office, working alongside U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations, launched an undercover operation aimed at identifying individuals using the internet to exploit children. Morales-Gonzalez quickly surfaced as a suspect, actively soliciting minors for sex through an online platform. He believed he was arranging a sexual encounter when he arrived at a pre-arranged meeting location, only to be met by law enforcement and immediately taken into custody.

The investigation revealed a calculated attempt to groom and exploit a minor, a pattern all too common in the dark corners of the internet. Authorities are now focused on uncovering any potential victims and ensuring Morales-Gonzalez is held accountable for his actions. The defendant now faces a grim future, with a minimum mandatory sentence of 10 years in prison, potentially extending to life, followed by five years to life of supervised release.

This case isn’t occurring in a vacuum. It is part of the broader “Project Safe Childhood,” a national initiative dedicated to combating the epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse. Furthermore, the operation falls under “Operation Take Back America,” a nationwide crackdown targeting illegal immigration, cartels, and transnational criminal organizations. The Department of Justice is clearly signaling a zero-tolerance policy for those who threaten the safety of American communities.

Assistant United States Attorney Justin M. Keen is prosecuting the case. Sentencing is scheduled for October 27, 2025, at 10:00 am at the United States Courthouse in Tallahassee before Chief United States District Judge Allen C. Winsor.
