Moss Point Man Faces 10 Years for Gun Charges

Gulfport, Miss – In a shocking display of disregard for the law, LaRobert Kadarius Hollins, 19, of Moss Point, has pleaded guilty to possession of a firearm by an unlawful user of a controlled substance. The young man’s decision to plead guilty marks a significant victory for law enforcement and a reminder that those who choose to live outside the law will be held accountable.

According to investigators, Hollins was stopped by the South Mississippi Metropolitan Enforcement Team on February 8, 2019, for an illegal turn. During the stop, officers discovered a bag of marijuana in Hollins’ pocket and a loaded 9mm pistol under the seat of the car. Hollins later admitted to agents with the Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco Firearms and Explosives that he smoked marijuana on a regular basis and that the gun was his.

The investigation into Hollins’ activities was a joint effort between the South Mississippi Metropolitan Enforcement Team and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. The case is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Annette Williams.

Hollins’ decision to plead guilty means he will face a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison and a $250,000 fine. He will be sentenced by Judge Sul Ozerden on November 25, 2019, at 9:30 a.m.

The guilty plea is a stark reminder of the consequences of making poor choices. As U.S. Attorney Mike Hurst noted, those who choose to live outside the law will be held accountable. The men and women of the South Mississippi Metropolitan Enforcement Team and the Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco Firearms and Explosives are to be commended for their tireless efforts to keep our communities safe.

The case serves as a warning to those who think they can skirt the law with impunity. The law enforcement community is dedicated to rooting out those who choose to live outside the law and bringing them to justice.

In the end, Hollins’ decision to plead guilty may have saved him from a longer sentence, but it does nothing to change the fact that he has made a choice that will have serious consequences for his future. As the investigation into his activities continues, it is clear that Hollins is a danger to himself and those around him.
