A Portland man has been convicted of conspiring to distribute and possess with intent to distribute cocaine and crack in southern Maine.
Mustafa Hassan, 34, was found guilty of the charge after a jury trial in U.S. District Court on November 21, 2016.
Court records revealed that between January 2016 and March 2016, Hassan, Nelson Calderon, and others trafficked in cocaine and crack in southern Maine.
According to the investigation, Hassan and Calderon were arrested on March 6, 2016 as law enforcement interrupted a pending drug transaction.
A search warrant at Calderon’s residence revealed approximately 160 grams of crack and about 460 grams of cocaine.
Hassan faces between five and forty years in prison and a fine of up to $5,000,000. He will be sentenced after the completion of a presentence investigation report by the U.S. Probation Office.
The investigation was conducted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the U.S Drug Enforcement Administration in conjunction with the Southern Maine Gang Task Force.
