A brutal assault has left a woman with severe injuries in New Mexico, with the perpetrator facing a 57-month prison sentence.
The incident occurred on June 27, 2024, when Myron Edward Blake, Jr., 40, an enrolled member of the Mescalero Apache Tribe, assaulted Jane Doe with a cinder block and a 2×6 board.
Blake pleaded guilty to one count of assault resulting in substantial bodily injury.
Blake will serve his sentence without the possibility of parole, as there is no parole in the federal system. Upon his release from prison, he will be subject to three years of supervised release.
The Bureau of Indian Affairs investigated this case, with the Assistant U.S. Attorney Silvia Delgado prosecuting the case.
Acting U.S. Attorney Ryan Ellison made the announcement today, stating that justice has been served in this violent crime.
The victim, Jane Doe, has not commented on the incident, but it is clear that the assault had a profound impact on her life.
Myron Edward Blake, Jr. is currently serving his sentence at an undisclosed location.
