SCRANTON, PA – A local man has been sentenced to 12 years in prison for possession of a machine gun and marijuana.
Naim Mustafa House, age 28, of Scranton, Pennsylvania, was sentenced on February 24, 2026, to 144 months’ imprisonment by United States District Judge Karoline Mehalchick for possession with intent to distribute marijuana and possession of a machine gun.
The charges stem from a traffic stop by Scranton Police Officers on July 8, 2024. During the stop, House fled on foot and was found hiding under a rear porch of a residence.
Police found marijuana packed for resale on his person and inside his backpack, as well as a Glock 7, 9mm handgun equipped with a device to transition the firearm from a semiautomatic firearm into a fully automatic firearm. The firearm also had an extended magazine containing 10 rounds of ammunition.
The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and the Scranton Police Department investigated the case. Assistant United States Attorney Jenny P. Roberts prosecuted the case.
According to United States Attorney Brian D. Miller, the charges against House demonstrate the ongoing threat of violence and illegal activity in the community.
The sentence imposed by Judge Mehalchick reflects the seriousness of the crimes committed by House and the need to protect the public from his actions.
