New Bern, N.C. – The grim reaper of the drug trade, Naulege Johnson, 24, of Wilmington, has been locked away for over a decade after being sentenced to 121 months in federal prison for distributing a noxious batch of methamphetamine.
The court documents laid bare a chilling narrative: on July 8, 2021, Johnson sold a heinous 32 grams of the illegal substance to an undercover ATF agent. Just six days later, he doubled down with over 100 grams, and by July 22nd, he had unloaded more than 160 grams into the hands of the same lawman.
Johnson’s membership in the United Blood Nation, a validated criminal organization by law enforcement, was no secret. His rap sheet is equally sinister: prior convictions for a stolen firearm and heroin possession. While on probation for the latter charge, Johnson’s insatiable appetite for crime knew no bounds.
This conviction marks a significant victory for Operation Golfer, an OCDETF investigation aimed at dismantling drug trafficking networks. The ATF, alongside New Hanover and Brunswick County Sheriffs’ Offices, worked tirelessly to bring justice to this case.
Michael Easley, U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of North Carolina, announced the sentence after it was handed down by U.S. District Judge Louise W. Flanagan. Assistant U.S. Attorneys Timothy Severo and Gabe Diaz led the prosecution charge.
