Alexandria, VA – An illegal alien with a history of sexual violence has pleaded guilty to reentering the United States. Nelson Aldama Alarcon, 38, was encountered by law enforcement while driving without a license and came up in the system as having failed to register as a sex offender.
According to court documents, Alarcon pleaded guilty to sexual battery in February 2000 after sexually assaulting his roommate’s four-year-old child. He was deported at taxpayer expense in 2004.
G. Zachary Terwilliger, U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia, and Lyle A. Boelens, Acting Field Office Director of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s (ICE) Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) Washington D.C., made the announcement after U.S. District Judge Anthony J. Trenga accepted the plea.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Carina A. Cuellar and Special Assistant U.S. Attorney Patrick Reid are prosecuting the case.
The defendant’s previous conviction and deportation did not deter him from reentering the country illegally. Alarcon’s actions demonstrate the importance of effective immigration enforcement and the need to hold individuals accountable for their crimes.
The case is a reminder that immigration laws are in place to protect the public and prevent individuals with histories of violence from reentering the country.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Virginia and ICE’s ERO Washington D.C. will continue to work together to ensure that individuals like Alarcon are held accountable for their crimes.
