Nicholas Tartaglione, Quadruple Murder, New York 2016

In a shocking turn of events, former police officer Nicholas Tartaglione was sentenced to four consecutive life sentences for orchestrating the 2016 quadruple murder of Martin Luna, Urbano Santiago, Miguel Luna, and Hector Gutierrez in New York.

Tartaglione, a 56-year-old resident of Otisville, New York, was found guilty of 11 counts of murder, four counts of kidnapping resulting in death, one count of kidnapping conspiracy, and one count of narcotics conspiracy.

The heinous crime took place on April 11, 2016, when Tartaglione brutally murdered the four victims, including Martin Luna (41 years old), Urbano Santiago (35 years old), Miguel Luna (25 years old), and Hector Gutierrez (43 years old). The victims were buried in a shallow grave on Tartaglione’s property in Otisville, New York.

According to the indictment, Tartaglione tortured Martin Luna for over an hour before strangling him to death with a zip-tie. The other three victims were killed execution-style with a single gunshot to the back of the head.

U.S. Attorney Damian Williams praised the outstanding investigative work of the FBI, the New York State Police, and the Village of Chester Police Department. Williams also thanked the City of Middletown Police Department and the Houston, Texas Police Department for their assistance in the case.

Tartaglione’s sentencing is a testament to the tireless efforts of law enforcement and prosecutors to bring justice to the victims and their families. The case is being prosecuted by the Office’s White Plains Division, with Assistant U.S. Attorneys Maurene Comey and Jacob R. Fiddelman leading the charge.
