Baltimore, Maryland – Elias Nick Costianes, Jr., 43, from Nottingham, Maryland, faces a federal indictment for his alleged role in a drug conspiracy involving the distribution of testosterone and cocaine. Costianes is also charged with possession of firearms by an unlawful user of any controlled substance.
The grand jury’s indictment was returned on November 18, 2021. Costianes will appear in U.S. District Court in Baltimore for his initial appearance at a later date, where he remains under the supervision of U.S. Pretrial Services since his arrest.
According to court documents, FBI agents executed search warrants at Costianes’s residence and recovered four firearms and ammunition. They also seized three vials of testosterone enanthate and one vial of testosterone cypionate.
Electronic evidence from Costianes’s phone suggests he conspired to traffic cocaine and testosterone by acquiring controlled substances for distribution to friends and associates. The conspiracy to distribute testosterone is alleged to have occurred between February 2020 and February 2021, while the cocaine conspiracy spanned from March through December 2020.
If convicted on all counts, Costianes could face up to 20 years in federal prison for each of the two drug distribution charges and an additional 10 years for the firearms possession charge. Sentences for federal crimes are typically less than maximum penalties and will be determined by a federal district court judge.
United States Attorney Erek L. Barron commended the FBI’s efforts in the investigation, thanking Assistant U.S. Attorney Jeffrey J. Izant for his prosecution of the case.
