Austin, TX – In a shocking turn of events, 50-year-old Nicky Osborne, a former Chief Financial Officer of a Pflugerville trucking company, was sentenced to 46 months in federal prison for her role in a brazen fraud and tax evasion scheme.
According to court documents, Osborne pleaded guilty to one count of wire fraud and one count of making a false statement on an income tax return. By doing so, she admitted to scheming to submit false and inflated receivables to financing companies while employed at Bison Global Logistics of Pflugerville between 2012 and 2017.
Osborne’s scheme went undetected for years, but her luck ran out when the IRS and FBI launched a joint investigation. The probe revealed that Osborne had earned a substantial income at Bison and failed to report commissions from her fraud scheme as income.
U.S. Attorney Ashley C. Hoff praised the work of the IRS and FBI in uncovering the scheme, stating that their efforts are crucial in investigating complex financial transactions.
Osborne’s crimes have left a trail of destruction, with the IRS seeking restitution of $596,425 and a financing company seeking $7,479,179.39 in compensation. The court has ordered her to pay these amounts in full.
Osborne will also be placed on supervised release for five years after completing her prison term. The sentence is a stark reminder of the consequences of committing white-collar crimes.
The case is a testament to the dedication and hard work of law enforcement agencies in fighting financial crimes. As FBI Special Agent in Charge Christopher Combs noted, the FBI is committed to fighting fraud at every level, and this case is a prime example of that commitment.
