PHILADELPHIA – A five-man crew faces decades behind bars after a federal jury slammed them with convictions for a reign of terror that included at least 29 carjackings and two cold-blooded murders. The group operated in and around Philadelphia, boosting stolen vehicles for shipment to Africa.
The feds took down Mikal McCracken (24, aka “Kal”), Amin Muse (24, aka “Miyn” and “Miyns”), Aleem Abdul-Hakim (23, aka “Fatleem”), Dean Fosque (28, aka “30”), and Kavon Coleman (23, aka “Ski”) after a July 2024 indictment. But the charges barely scratched the surface of the violence.
McCracken stands accused of leading the February 2022 carjacking that left a former Marine dead. He’s also been convicted for plotting to ice a potential witness – also in February 2022. The jury found him linked to an additional 20 armed carjackings, five of which involved gunfire. One victim was hit twice, a month apart.
Muse, right alongside McCracken, faces the same carjacking-resulting-in-death charge, and the witness-murder conspiracy. He’s tied to another eight armed carjackings, one of which involved shots fired.
Abdul-Hakim was convicted in the Marine’s murder and linked to five more armed heists. Fosque piled up convictions for nine carjackings – three of them shootings, with one victim actually struck by bullets. Coleman, the final member, faces charges for four armed carjacking attempts and completions.
Prosecutors didn’t detail how the vehicles were shipped overseas, but the feds clearly aimed to dismantle the entire operation, not just the street-level robberies. Expect lengthy sentences when the judge weighs in. This wasn’t just about stolen cars; it was a calculated, violent racket that left a trail of shattered lives.
