Nour Abubakr Nour, a 34-year-old Tucson resident, was sentenced to 30 months in prison for filing false tax returns. According to court records, Nour, the owner of Skyman Tax, LLC, a tax return preparation business located in Tucson, prepared and filed at least 27 false individual federal income tax returns for his clients between 2016 and 2018. Nour’s clients were unaware that he was filing false tax returns under their names.
As part of the scheme, Nour inflated tax refunds by claiming false business income, allowing him to pay himself large tax return preparation fees. The investigation revealed that Nour’s actions resulted in a total of $150,154 in false tax refunds.
Nour pleaded guilty to Aiding and Assisting in the Preparation and Presentation of a False Tax Return on December 21, 2023. He was sentenced by United States District Judge Scott H. Rash on December 3, 2024.
The investigation into Nour’s tax preparation business was conducted by the IRS Criminal Investigation. The United States Attorney’s Office, District of Arizona, Tucson, handled the prosecution.
Nour was ordered to pay restitution to the United States Treasury in the amount of $150,154.00 for the false tax refunds. This sentence brings an end to Nour’s involvement in the tax preparation business, which was operating in Tucson.
