Ohio Trafficker Antoine Tate Sentenced 8.5 Years for Fentanyl, Cocaine, Oxycodone Trafficking

A notorious Ohio drug trafficker has been sentenced to a lengthy stint behind bars for his role in a massive fentanyl, cocaine, and oxycodone trafficking operation in western Pennsylvania.

Antoine Tate, a 44-year-old Youngstown, Ohio resident, was slapped with an 8.5-year prison sentence by United States District Judge Cathy Bissoon, who also ordered that Tate serve six years of supervised release following his prison sentence. The harsh sentence was handed down in response to Tate’s guilty plea to possession with intent to distribute fentanyl, cocaine, and oxycodone, as well as possession of a firearm in furtherance of that crime.

The investigation into Tate’s illicit activities began on October 31, 2020, when authorities apprehended him in New Castle, Pennsylvania, after he attempted to flee police officers in his vehicle. A loaded pistol and quantities of fentanyl, cocaine, and oxycodone were found in Tate’s possession at the time of his arrest, along with over $2,000 in cash.

Assistant United States Attorney Craig W. Haller prosecuted the case against Tate, which was facilitated by a collaborative effort between the Union Township Police Department, New Castle Police Department, Federal Bureau of Investigation, and Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives

Acting United States Attorney Troy Rivetti lauded the efforts of law enforcement agencies involved in the case, stating that their tireless work led to the successful prosecution of Tate. The harsh sentence handed down to Tate serves as a testament to the gravity of his crimes and the commitment of federal authorities to combating the scourge of opioid trafficking in the region.

The sentence of Antoine Tate serves as a warning to would-be traffickers: the consequences of engaging in this illicit activity are severe and will be met with the full force of the law. As the Grimy Times continues to shed light on the dark underbelly of organized crime, we will remain vigilant in our pursuit of justice for victims and their families.

In a statement, Acting United States Attorney Rivetti commended the Union Township Police Department, New Castle Police Department, Federal Bureau of Investigation, and Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives for their role in the successful prosecution of Tate. The sentence imposed on Tate was a direct result of their hard work and dedication to keeping our communities safe.
