Olyimpus Shaquille Pereira, Felon in Possession of a Firearm, California 2021

A federal indictment has charged Olyimpus Shaquille Pereira, 28, with being a felon in possession of a firearm.

According to court documents, on November 16, 2021, following a lawful search, officers found a Sig Sauer .40-caliber semi-automatic handgun in Pereira’s vehicle.

Pereira has several prior felony convictions—including assault with a deadly weapon causing great bodily injury and two prior felon in possession of a firearm/ammunition convictions—which prohibit him from possessing a firearm.

This case is the product of an investigation by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives Violent Crimes Task Force, the U.S. Marshals Service Fugitive Task Force, and the Stockton Police Department.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Alstyn Bennett is prosecuting the case.

If convicted, Pereira faces a maximum statutory penalty of 10 years in prison and a $250,000 fine. However, any sentence would be determined at the discretion of the court after consideration of any applicable statutory factors and the Federal Sentencing Guidelines, which take into account a number of variables.
