Omaha Woman Sentenced for Meth Distribution

Omaha’s Marie Schaeffer, 57, stood before a federal judge this week to face the brunt of justice for her role in methamphetamine distribution. Sentenced by United States District Judge Robert F. Rossiter, Jr., Schaeffer was handed a 144-month term behind bars for possession with intent to distribute at least 500 grams of meth.

\\

The grim reality of Schaeffer’s crime was laid bare during her sentencing hearing. There is no parole in the federal system, and upon her release from prison, she will be subjected to a mandatory five years of supervised release.

\\

Back on November 16, 2019, a Nebraska State Patrol trooper initiated the encounter that would lead to Schaeffer’s downfall. Stopped for following too close and failing to stop at a sign in North Platte, she consented to a vehicle search. Inside, law enforcement discovered a garbage bag stuffed with 15 one-pound bags of methamphetamine.

\\

The Nebraska State Patrol was instrumental in the investigation that led to Schaeffer’s arrest. The trooper’s astute actions on that fateful day have once again proven critical in taking a significant quantity of the dangerous drug off the streets.

\\

This sentence serves as a stark reminder of the severe consequences faced by those who deal in methamphetamine, one of the most potent and destructive drugs on the market. The community can take solace in the fact that Schaeffer’s actions have been thwarted, and justice has been served.

\\

As Omaha reels from another instance of drug-related crime, it is hoped that such sentences deter others from considering similar activities. The Grimy Times will continue to report on such stories, ensuring the community remains informed about the dangers lurking in their midst.
