Osage Resident Kevin Perrin Gets 14-Year Sentence for Child Pornography

The grim saga of Kevin Perrin, once a denizen of Osage, Iowa, reached its dark conclusion on March 14, 2013. The 49-year-old was sentenced to 14 years behind bars for his sinister exploitation of the most vulnerable, sentencing him to pay for his crimes against minors.

Perrin’s descent into the depths of obscenity began with a guilty plea on December 21, 2012, where he admitted to actively seeking and distributing child pornography online. The court, presided over by Chief Judge Linda R. Reade in Cedar Rapids, meted out justice with a sentence of 168 months’ imprisonment.

But the punishment did not end there; Perrin was also ordered to pay a special assessment of $100 and serve a five-year term of supervised release. His name will forever remain on the sex offender registry, a permanent scarlet letter for his monstrous actions.

This case was handled with relentless determination by Assistant United States Attorney Mark Tremmel, who led the prosecution. The Mitchell County Sheriff’s Office and the Clinton County Sheriff’s Office were instrumental in the investigation that ultimately brought Perrin to justice.

The case is part of Project Safe Childhood, an initiative launched by the Department of Justice in 2006 to combat the escalating crisis of child sexual exploitation. It demonstrates a united front against predators who prey on the innocence of children.
