A convicted felon has been sentenced to prison time for illegally possessing a firearm in North Carolina.
On September 6, 2023, Osco Lothario Jackson, 37, of Charlotte, fired shots into a group of people, including a man and several teenagers, hitting his intended target in the leg.
Jackson’s criminal history is marred with multiple prior convictions, including Assault on a Government Official/Employee, Possession With Intent to Deliver Cocaine, Assault with a Deadly Weapon Inflicting Serious Injury, and Conspiracy to Commit Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon.
As a result of these convictions, Jackson is prohibited from possessing firearms or ammunition. However, he was found guilty of possession of a firearm by a felon on June 26, 2024.
The investigation into Jackson’s actions was a collaborative effort between the ATF and the Charlotte Mecklenburg Police Department.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Kimlani Ford prosecuted the case, leading to Jackson’s sentence of 64 months in prison, followed by three years of supervised release.
Jackson will remain in federal custody pending placement by the Federal Bureau of Prisons at a designated facility.
The case serves as a reminder of the consequences of violating federal firearms laws and the importance of community partnerships in keeping our neighborhoods safe.
