August 15, 1956, was a dark and chaotic night in Washington D.C. as four pedestrians, including three innocent children, fell victim to the city’s treacherous streets. The first incident occurred around 1:00 a.m. near 934 New York Avenue NW, where 61-year-old Samuel Stern was struck by an automobile and left with a broken neck. Miraculously, he was in good condition at Emergency Hospital.
