Cocaine Trafficker Sentenced to Over 8 Years in Federal Prison
A 50-year-old man from St. Cloud, Florida, has been sentenced to 100 months in federal prison for his role in a cocaine trafficking operation in Hartford, Connecticut.
Pedro Rivera pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to distribute and to possess with intent to distribute 500 grams or more of cocaine in November 2021.
According to court documents, Rivera arranged for cocaine shipments from Puerto Rico and California to be delivered to addresses in Hartford through the U.S. Postal Service. Jesus Rodriguez, a U.S. Postal Service letter carrier, delivered the cocaine to Rivera and also distributed it to his own customers and other traffickers in the area.
Investigators intercepted communications over a court-authorized wiretap showing Rivera and Rodriguez arranging the delivery of a cocaine parcel, which contained three kilograms of cocaine.
Rivera was arrested in Florida on June 3, 2019, and has been detained since his arrest. He was sentenced on an unspecified date by U.S. District Judge Vanessa L. Bryant in Hartford.
The case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Geoffrey M. Stone through the Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces (OCDETF) Program.
Rivera’s sentence includes three years of supervised release following his prison term.
