BOSTON – Eddy Antonio Perdomo, 31, a Dominican national, admitted in federal court today to flouting a deportation order and illegally re-entering the United States. The Lawrence resident’s brazen act has landed him a court date for sentencing next year, and a likely return trip back to his home country.
Perdomo pleaded guilty to one count of unlawful reentry of a deported alien before U.S. District Court Judge Patti B. Saris. The indictment, handed down by a federal grand jury in June 2025, details how Perdomo disregarded a previous removal order. Sentencing is scheduled for August 6, 2025, leaving Perdomo facing the consequences of his actions.
Federal authorities confirmed Perdomo was deported to the Dominican Republic on October 3, 2023. Barely months later, he was back on U.S. soil – illegally. The details of his return remain under wraps, but investigators clearly moved swiftly to apprehend him and bring him before the court. The audacity of re-entering after being explicitly removed isn’t lost on federal officials.
The charge of illegal reentry carries a potential sentence of up to two years in prison, a year of supervised release, and a hefty $250,000 fine. But the legal ramifications don’t stop there. Upon completion of any sentence imposed by Judge Saris, Perdomo will once again be subject to deportation. This isn’t simply about punishment; it’s about enforcing the nation’s immigration laws.
United States Attorney Leah B. Foley, alongside Patricia H. Hyde, Field Office Director of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Enforcement and Removal Operations in Boston, and Lawrence Police Chief Maurice Aguiler, jointly announced the guilty plea. Their collaborative effort underscores the commitment to tackling illegal immigration and maintaining border security.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Suzanne Sullivan Jacobus of the Major Crimes Unit is spearheading the prosecution. Sources within the US Attorney’s office indicate this case is a clear signal that attempts to circumvent immigration laws will be met with swift and decisive legal action. The U.S. Sentencing Guidelines and applicable statutes will guide Judge Saris in determining the final sentence, ensuring a just outcome for this case.
