A joint investigation by the Menominee Tribal Police Department, Federal Bureau of Investigation, and other local authorities has led to a significant blow against methamphetamine trafficking on the Menominee Indian Reservation in Wisconsin.
Peter J. Boyd, a 36-year-old former resident of Keshena on the Menominee Indian Reservation, has been sentenced to 5 years in prison for his involvement in the crime.
The conviction stems from a guilty plea entered by Boyd on March 30, 2023, following a search warrant executed by law enforcement at a residence on SE Bass Lake Road on October 15, 2022. During the search, officers seized 111 grams of methamphetamine, scales, and other paraphernalia associated with the use and sale of illegal drugs, as well as over $2,000 in cash and 9 firearms.
Boyd will also face 5 years of supervised release once he completes his prison sentence.
Senior United States District Judge William C. Griesbach imposed the sentence on June 21, 2023, emphasizing the seriousness of the crime and the need to deter others from similar actions to protect the community from the destructive effects of controlled substance abuse.
The investigation was conducted by the Menominee Tribal Police Department, Federal Bureau of Investigation, Menominee County Sheriff’s Office, Menominee Conservation Department, and Shawano County Sheriff’s Department. Assistant United States Attorney Andrew J. Maier prosecuted the case in United States District Court.
